Smart Sub1.8H – Horn-Loaded Active Subwoofer System

The Smart Sub1.8H is a fully horn-loaded subwoofer system featuring a single 18-inch (460 mm) long-excursion transducer.

The optimized horn-loading path significantly increases low-frequency efficiency while extending the usable frequency response. Despite its compact dimensions, the system delivers extended low-frequency reproduction down to 45 Hz, with powerful impact and exceptional bass punch.

This performance becomes even more evident when multiple units are deployed in large-scale arrays, where the system is capable of long-throw low-frequency reinforcement.

The controlled excursion behavior ensures very low total harmonic distortion (THD), while maintaining excellent linearity and fast transient response across all operating conditions.

Amplification and DSP

The system is powered by a high-performance Class-D two-channel amplifier module designed for high-output mono-bridge operation, delivering the high voltage required to drive a single high-performance subwoofer system such as the Smart Sub1.8H.

Audio accuracy is ensured by a fixed-frequency switch-mode output stage that minimizes intermodulation artifacts, combined with the advanced “Control Plus” board, which improves signal-to-noise ratio by up to +6 dB.

The Smart amplifier module is an extremely compact integrated solution, combining power supply, output stage, DSP, and connectors within a single lightweight and protected chassis. Full compatibility across the Smart Series simplifies system design and integration.

As with all Smart products, the amplifier module is fully DSP-controlled, enabling advanced system tuning through a wide range of processing algorithms. A programmable DSP platform also enables network connectivity and system control.

Integration with the Armonía Pro Audio Suite allows users to customize system performance and load four factory presets optimized for common professional applications.

Performance and Applications

The Smart Sub1.8H is designed for maximum versatility in premium sound reinforcement applications, including theaters, touring systems, portable live sound, corporate events, and concert halls.

It is ideal as a main subwoofer system in small to medium-sized venues, and can also be used as part of larger systems for front-fill, in-fill, out-fill, or drum-fill applications when combined with Smart Series full-range systems.

Installation and Rigging

The system features an integrated M20 threaded insert on the top panel, allowing Smart full-range loudspeakers to be mounted directly above the subwoofer for compact system configurations.

A full range of rigging accessories enables flexible installation options for touring and fixed applications.

Construction and Integration

The cabinet is constructed from marine-grade birch plywood and finished with a durable, impact- and weather-resistant PCP (polyurea cabinet protection) coating, ensuring long-term reliability in demanding environments.

Thanks to its compact form factor, high efficiency, and lightweight construction, the Smart Sub1.8H is highly portable and well suited for mobile applications.
