The 218R is a high-performance sub-bass system featuring two long-excursion 18-inch direct-radiating transducers housed in two separate bass-reflex tuned chambers. The system is derived from two coupled 118R units, with one cabinet element physically oriented upward in the lower section of the enclosure.
This unique “V-shape” configuration creates a large, centrally positioned reflex port within the cabinet, maximizing low-frequency efficiency. The central port alignment further enhances system performance through an optimized front-loading path, an effect that becomes increasingly significant when multiple units are deployed in large arrays.
The differentially flared bass-reflex design reduces turbulence and port noise at high sound pressure levels while improving overall low-frequency efficiency and extending the response down to 32 Hz.
Designed for ground-stacked operation, the 218R can also be configured in cardioid subwoofer arrays, with one unit positioned rear-facing and processed via a dedicated amplifier channel. This configuration provides excellent low-frequency control and significantly reduces rearward energy radiation.
With its high system efficiency, the VH Sub 218R delivers extremely high SPL output while maintaining excellent linear frequency response. Its controlled transducer excursion design ensures very low total harmonic distortion (THD), even under extreme operating conditions.
The result is a powerful, punch-driven bass response combined with extended low-frequency reproduction, making it a distinctive alternative to conventional dual 18-inch vented enclosures. It is ideally suited for demanding live applications such as side fill or drum fill and stands as a true reference in its class.
The 218R is highly modular despite its compact footprint, enabling flexible configurations and large-scale array deployment. A full range of accessories further simplifies installation, including stacked and pole-mounted setups.
Constructed from marine-grade birch plywood and finished with a durable, impact- and weather-resistant PCP (polyurea cabinet protection) coating, the cabinet is engineered for long-term reliability in professional touring and installed environments.
It integrates seamlessly with high-end professional full-range and line-array systems, significantly extending low-frequency performance and overall system impact.
Applications: Large Open Air Venues, Arenas, Stadiums, Theaters, Conference Halls, Concert Halls, Large Scale Discos & Clubs.
